The Gergely Winery is located 7 km far from Zánka at the border of two villages, Szentantalfa and Balatoncsicsó. We are in the hearth of the so called Nivegy valley on the top of Saint Balázs mountain, close to the shore of Lake Balaton. Our winery was established by our father, László Szabó about 30 years ago. Altough the family wine making tradition goes back much further because our great-great grandfather had made wine too.
Our father started to build up his own wine farm almost from nothing, driven by huge motivation and the heritage and experience of the ancestors.
Today thankful our parents hard work we own a moderrn winery, which is unique in the Nivegy valley. We own a 25 hectars big grape field and working on a certified organic farm. Our plantation are on the finest hills and their average age are 10 years. According the tradition of our wine area we make mainly white wine but in smaller quantity we also produce red wine too. From the green work on the field to the fementation and sales, all the processes are made by our family.
Recently we built a new cellar and a modern grape processing plant. We make the stum fermentation with cooled stainless steel containers and controll it centrally. We produce reductive and oxydative wines too.
Next to wine making we have a small restaurant which became more and popular. We offer to our guests a unique experience where they can taste our knuckle of ham made by our secret recipe. Alongside the feast they can taste our excellent organic wines and take a look into the mysterious world of the wine production. The icing on the top is the amazing view of the Lake all around the cellar.
If the guests get a little bit tired after the good food and tasty wines, they can have a rest in our 5 bedroom guesthouse on the top of several thousand wine bottles.
We are the member of the Zánka-Nivegy Valley Wine Route Association since 2001, which is responsible for the integration and development of the local wine tourism. The main goal is the authentic representation of the Nivegy Valley Wine Area . Keep the heritage from the ancestors and show the beauty of present days, meanwhile looking to the future.
